Clearing Mind

After a full day, stories, words, and images from everything we have experienced continue to play in our heads for hours. Even as we lie in bed, our minds continue processing the input from our day. This can leave us feeling unsettled and harassed. It also makes it difficult to take in any new information or inspiration.

Like a cluttered house that needs to be cleared if it is to have room for movement and new life, our minds need clearing if they are to be open to new information, ideas, and inspiration.

Often the activities we choose to help us relax only add to the clutter. Watching television, seeing a movie, reading a book, or talking to a friend all involve taking in more information. In order to really clear our minds, we need a break from mental stimulation. Activities like meditation. yoga, dancing, or taking a long walk slow our mental activity enough that our minds begin to settle. Deep breathing is an even simpler way to draw attention away from our mental activities.

Setting aside time to clear our minds once a day becomes second nature over time. Our minds will begin to settle with less effort the more we practice. Ultimately, the practice of clearing our minds allows us to be increasingly more open so that we can perceive the world as the fresh offering it is, free of yesterday’s mental clutter.   (Based on the Daily OM)

Make It Fun

All the resources you will ever want or need are at your fingertips. All you have to do is identify what you want to do with it, and then practice the feeling-place of what it will feel like when that happens. There is nothing you cannot be, or do, or have. You are blessed Beings; you have come forth into this physical environment to create. There is nothing holding you back, other than your own contradictory thought. And your emotion tells you you're doing that. Life is supposed to be fun - it is supposed to feel good! You are powerful Creators and right on schedule. Savor more; fix less. Laugh more; cry less. Anticipate positively more; anticipate negatively less. Nothing is more important than that you feel good. Just practice that and watch what happens.  (Abraham-Hicks)

Happiness Is Not In Possessions

We would never buy anything if we did not believe it would make us feel better. I can think of several things which do bring us comfort or joy, and if we can feel grateful for having these, we can feel better for having them forever.  If we stop feeling gratitude for them, we go off in pursuit of that next magical thing we believe will make us happy.

There are not enough things in the world to buy which make us happy for more than a very short time.  Possessions do not make us happy.  Acquiring more things will mean having to work harder to pay for them, as well as to take care of them.

There is another consideration as well.  Material attachments hold us back from creating truly meaningful bonds with others, ourselves...in essence, with life.

Instead of seeing things for their physical value, appraise the emotional and spiritual value.

Happy Every Day

Much has been written about living each day fully...or living it as if it were the last.  I don't know why this is so difficult to really "get", but it is.  Not only do we spend a lot of meaningless time, but also wish a lot of it would pass...as in, "I can't wait until the week-end".  What about the days between right now and the week-end?

What would you die for?  Because the truth is sooner or later we all are going to die, and you are moving toward that one day at a time.  The way you spend each day of the time you have is what you are willing to die for.  Are you happy with each day you spend?  Are you satisfied?  Delighted?   Do you wake in the morning anticipating the day ahead with relish and glee?  Do you go to bed at night satisfied with the steps you’ve made and grateful for what you are dying for?

We all flounder at times....forgetting how to make ourselves happy.  Yes, we are responsible for this, not other people.  I hope you find the following video as helpful as I do.

No Need to Suffer

Don't take anything personally. Nothings others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering. (Don Miguel Ruiz, from the book, The Four Agreements)

This one is a bit of a challenge, as we tread a fine line between respecting people by taking them seriously and respecting ourselves by clearly knowing that they are merely expressing their own reality, not ours.  It takes practice!  But every time you succeed, even just a little, you have added to your own serenity and happiness.

Law of Attraction

For those of you who insist on "scientific" proof, the "Law of Attraction" may seem a bit far-fetched.:-)  Since it is a way in which to shape your life to what you want, why not put this law into practice?  You will be amazed at the results!

Complaining about anything, holds you in the place of refusing to receive the things you've been asking for. Justifying about anything holds you in the place of refusing to let in the very things that you've been asking for. Blaming someone, holds you in the place of refusing to let in the things that you've been asking for. Feeling guilty, feeling angry, it doesn't matter what you call it, it is a refusal, not a conscious one. You're asking; you can't help but ask. The Universe is yielding; it must yield. It's a big question, folks: why aren't you letting it in?***Abraham***
